Air, water, & soil

Water

We sealed cups of water in ziplock bags.  The ziplock bags were then taped to the windows.

After four days of being taped to the window, there was water droplets on the side of the bags and water in the bottom of the bags.  How did the water get there?!

Soil

These are the things we found in our soil samples!

Animal Adaptations

In 2012, our class at Hammond Elementary was learning about animal adaptions!

We already knew...

An animals fur/coat color is an example of an adaptation.
Some animals grow more fur in the winter to stay warm, then shed the fur in the spring like my dog.
Animals prefer to choose safe environments to live.
Birds fly south during the winter season (migration).

We wanted to learn about...
How do animals adapt to their needs?
How much food do certain animals need to store for the winter?
How do hibernating animals not starve during the winter?
How far do birds have to migrate during the winter?
Do all animals sleep?

Picture of an arctic fox.  Can you describe reasons for this animal's adaptations?

This is a picture of a local dyke in Pitt Meadows.  Can you describe this habitat?
