Blogging Guidelines

Blogging Guidelines

The following guidelines have been established to ensure the safety of our students when blogging:

1. Student’s first names and work MAY be included on the blog.
2. Student’s surnames, addresses, email addresses, date of birth, phone number, specific plans or other personal information will NOT be included on the blog.
3. Posts and comments written by students will be checked and approved by Mr. Dowler before they are included on the blog.
4. Students will be encouraged to comment on other student/class blogs with teacher/parent supervision.
5. Parents who leave comments are asked to use their first names only so as not to identify their child. ie. Please identify yourself as “Kim – Kayla’s mom” rather than “Kim Brown – Kayla’s mom”.
6. All comments must be polite, courteous and respectful.
7. Other’s work, images, music or videos will not be used without permission and attribution.
8. Parents are asked to proofread comments that students write on blogs at home.

While I, Mr. Dowler, moderate all comments and posts, please let me know if you think I have overlooked any breeches in our safety guidelines and I will fix it up ASAP.

Here is a link of some students in California discussing how to compose a quality comment:

2. Add new information
3. Make a connection
